We decided to get away this weekend and visit a place nearby. We decided on Medicine Park, Wichita Mountains and Fort Sill, Oklahoma, which are all mintutes from each other and only about an hour and a half away from home. This was a long over due change of scenery for us….
- Medicine Park, Oklahoma. Medicine Park was a favorite part of the weekend. It’s filled with mom and pop shops and places to eat. There was a live band while we were there.
- Shops at Medicine Park. Most of the little shops at Medicine park are built from local cobblestone.
- Lulabelle’s. Lulabelle’s was Kathy’s favorite shop. She makes her own soy candles! She also offers a variety of other goodies. Very nice lady :)
- Water Fall at Medicine Park
- Wichita Mountains from the top of Mount Scott
- John on top of the world. Pic was taken on the top of Mount Scott in the Wichita Mountains.
- Kathy on the top of Mount Scott
- Wichita Mountains from the top of Mount Scott. A grass fire to the south made the skies hazy

- Lake below from the top of Mount Scott
- Mount Scott in the background from the lake
- Wichita Mountains WIldlife Refuge
- Prairie Dog. He wasn’t far from the road in the wildlife refuge.
- Long Horn Cattle. A pic we took in the wildlife refuge from the side of the road. No fences between them and us! We stayed in the car…..
- Buffalo grazing roadside. This buffalo was lazily grazing just a few feet from the road side. We stayed in the car to take the pic…AND ready to get away fast if necessary. This guy was immense!
- Elk near Lawton. Here we saw Elk grazing by the interstate on our way to Lawton. A very remarkable site for us.
- Old Plantation Cafe. We ended this day back at Medicine Park at the Old Plantation Cafe. A very nice cafe…..They had the biggest chicken fried steak we had ever seen. Really BIG!
- Fort Sill. Old Fort Sill. Notice the openings where soldiers fought from. I’m not sure what they are called but they put their guns in the holes to shoot at attackers. It reminded me of old westerns.
- Apache Cemetery where Geronimo is buried.
- Geronimo’s Grave with his wife beside him. There were many of Geronimos co-hearts and family members buried around him.
- We got there SOONER…. we hope you can get there soon!
